No Tamasha here. Just Deepika Padukone's style ka Safarnama, on Fashion Friday

Let's get this straight. Tamasha, Imtiaz Ali's 2015 film, is not your usual love story. It was dramatic for sure - hence the name is poetically apt - but primarily, it was complicated. Tamasha grows on you. That is the magic of Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and of course, Imtiaz Ali's occultist take on the tamasha that pyaar-mohabbat generally leads to in life.

But, broadly speaking, you either like Tamasha or you don't. There's no in-between. Many reached a verdict on the first watch, several others decided to give Tamasha a second chance by re-watching it. The cinematic debate continues.

There's one thing about the film that gets a collective thumbs-up. Deepika Padukone aka Tara's fashion statement in the film. It's been five years since Imtiaz Ali's film released and to commemorate it, we will discuss Deepika Padukone's style ka Safarnama in Tamasha for our Fashion Friday section this week.

Anaita Shroff Adajania, who styled Deepika in Tamasha, told The Telegraph in an interview in 2015, that Tara is "all very natural. There is almost like a minimalist glow to the whole thing."

Take a look at Tara's top looks from Tamasha:

THE BLUE DRESS

No prizes for guessing that this is our personal favourite look of Deepika Padukone from Matargashti. She wore a blue spaghetti dress, mid-length, and paired it with a sheer white shirt as a shrug that featured quirky motifs. To accessorise the outfit, Tara styled it with a brown belt and wore a delicate gold neckpiece along with a watch. She left her hair open under the Corsican sun and danced around with Ved.

As far as make-up is concerned, there was hardly anything that Tara wore apart from basic foundation to create a dewy look. Another thing that it was just not required.

THE WHITE GANJEE AND SHORTS

'Simply pretty' is the phrase for this attire that Tara was spotted in during one of her outings in Corsica with Ved. She wore a low-back ganjee paired with white shorts, and carried a frilled bag from the shelves of Gucci.

No accessories as such except for a delicate neckpiece and a watch. She wore her hair, featuring brown highlights, down. Tara rounded off her look with a smart pair of sneakers.

THE WHITE DRESS

There is this crocheted sleeveless dress that Tara wore during one of her Corsica outings that was absolutely stunning. It was in an off-white shade, and she styled it with multiple neckpieces for that funky look. She carried the Gucci bag and let her radiant glow do the rest. That's it.

THE BLUE DRESS AGAIN

Ufffff, Tara! Plus, Ved too. In this scene, Tara was ultra-chic in a short blue dress styled with a brown waist belt. She wore white covered shoes and as for accessories, opted for her usual Tamasha style, several neckpieces and anklets. Those shades were awesome, and she tied her hair in a random ponytail. It couldn't get better than this.

THAT BANDANA!

You can wear casuals and look sexy in it too. Take a cue from Tara here. She wore a simple shirt and tied the loose ends of it together, and paired it with printed pants. That's fairly simple but what took that look to another level was that bandana. Tara tied her hair in a ponytail and wore a multicolour bandana to round it off.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE IN TAMASHA

In Tamasha, Deepika Padukone was cast as Tara. In Corsica, for an adventurous trip, Tara meets Ranbir Kapoor's Ved and both refuse to reveal their true identities. Matargashti continues for a while until love steps in. What follows is an on and off course of matters of the heart between Ved and Tara, because quite frankly, to deal with the Dil, is a Mushkil thing. Nevertheless, you can read more about Tamasha and its nuances here, because we might as well shift our focus to Tara's fashion in the film.

TARA KA STYLE IN TAMASHA

Tara in Tamasha was all about that boho chic vibe amalgamated with the girl-next-door charm. In Corsica, Tara opted for basic short dresses, shirt shrugs and cord neckpieces and chains, and anklets. Basically, Tara managed to glam up with absolutely minimalistic clothing. She also wore formals to sport a corporate look in certain parts of the film, and in most other cases, kept it simple with tees and pyjamas.
